Pokémon TCG Pocket Adds Dual-Type Cards October 2026
The Pokémon TCG Pocket mobile game is introducing dual-type cards starting in October 2026, The Pokémon Company announced at the PokémonXP event in San Francisco. This marks a significant expansion of the game’s mechanics, bringing a feature familiar to long-time Pokémon fans to the digital card collecting experience.
The first dual-type card to arrive will be Mega Mewtwo X ex, which combines Psychic and Fighting types—a first for the mobile title. Mega Mewtwo X ex features 180 HP and introduces a new ability called Dual Impact. This ability deals an additional 40 damage when a stadium is in play, demonstrating how the dual-type mechanic is designed to introduce new strategic depth to gameplay. The card was highlighted in the latest Pokémon TCG Pocket trailer.
The October update will also bring ex cards for partner Pokémon Piplup and Fuecoco, expanding the game’s available roster. Dual-type Pokémon have been a core feature of the main Pokémon games and trading card game for years, so their introduction to the mobile version represents an evolution of the game’s mechanics.
