Fable’s Main Quest Will Take About 20 Hours to Beat
Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature approximately 20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, according to statements made by associate game directors Will Kennedy and Craig Littler at Gamescom 2026.
The developers revealed that alongside the main campaign, players can expect around 15-20 hours of additional side quests and open-world exploration content. Beyond this structured gameplay, the game will feature expansive life simulation systems that offer unlimited playtime for players who wish to engage with NPC interactions and other lifestyle mechanics.
The 20-hour main story length represents a moderate scope compared to many sprawling modern RPGs, positioning Fable as a focused experience rather than a 100+ hour epic. This approach allows players to complete the primary narrative without an excessive time commitment while still offering substantial content for those seeking deeper engagement through side activities and simulation elements.
The announcement comes as the franchise prepares for a significant milestone—Fable will be the first entry in the series to release on PlayStation platforms in addition to Xbox platforms. The game is currently scheduled for release in 2027.
