Fable’s main story will take around 15 to 20 hours to complete

Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will offer approximately 15-20 hours of main storyline gameplay, alongside a comparable amount of side quests and open-world exploration content. The details emerged during a Gamescom 2026 Q&A session with Polygon, where associate game directors Will Kennedy and Craig Littler outlined the game’s scope.

Kennedy stated that players can expect “around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay” plus an additional “15-20 hours of side and open-world exploration content gameplay.” Littler emphasized that the game features “limitless” life systems, allowing indefinite play for invested players. “You can literally play it forever if that’s what you want to do,” he explained.

The playtime reflects a deliberate design choice aligning Fable with the original trilogy’s scope, contrasting with modern AAA RPGs like Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3, which regularly exceed 100 hours. This more modest commitment makes Fable accessible to players seeking substantial yet manageable experiences.

With approximately 40 hours of structured content—main quests plus side content—the game provides a generous baseline, while limitless life systems offer extended replayability for committed players. Fable is confirmed for Xbox Game Pass.
