Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta Steam numbers haven’t budged in the second weekend, despite Warzone’s arrival and transformative patch

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s open beta is underway for its second and final weekend, now available on Switch 2 without requiring a pre-order. Despite expanded content and multi-platform availability, the beta’s peak concurrent player count on Steam has plateaued.

The first weekend peaked at 115,145 concurrent players on Steam. In the second weekend, the highest concurrent count reached just over 113,000 players on Friday, failing to surpass the original peak. This stagnation occurred despite significant new content additions: a sample of Warzone’s upcoming Resurgence map, two new Ground War maps, and all previously available maps and modes.

The lack of growth in player numbers is notable given the deliberate efforts to drive renewed engagement. New Warzone integration and expanded platform access—including the newly added Switch 2 availability—have not translated into increased interest on Steam. The trend suggests player interest peaked during the initial beta weekend, with neither additional content nor multi-platform expansion sufficient to reignite engagement during the final testing session.
