Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Has Finished Shooting Its Performance Capture, Confirms Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog announced that motion capture shooting for its upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been completed. The developer confirmed via social media that the “very ambitious cinematic shoot” has wrapped, meaning all of the game’s cut-scene performances have now been captured by actors.

While this milestone doesn’t indicate that development is complete, it suggests the game is entering its final stages of production. Motion capture production for large-scale games typically spans years as actors record performances in chunks while the development team continues other aspects of the game in parallel.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet marks Naughty Dog’s foray into new territory beyond its acclaimed Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises. The sci-fi space adventure is confirmed to feature actor Tati Gabrielle, who was pictured in full performance capture gear in the announcement.

The news arrives ahead of Sony’s upcoming State of Play presentation. Prior reports have indicated the game’s release could still be a couple of years away, and Naughty Dog has implemented mandatory overtime for development staff working on the project.
