Pokémon Go ‘Mega Ascension’ choose a path — Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox or Mega Greninja?
Pokémon Go is launching a “Mega Ascension” event from August 31 to September 6, 2026, leading up to the “Pokémon Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale” weekend celebration. As part of this event, players must make a critical one-time choice between three Mega Evolved Pokémon: Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, or Mega Greninja. This decision carries significant weight because the chosen Pokémon will not be available in Mega Raids during the main Pokémon Go Fest event, making this the only opportunity for players to secure a specific Mega form during this window.
Upon selecting their preferred Mega Pokémon, players receive candy from instantly-completed research and unlock access to the Go Pass: Mega Finale, which gates exclusive event bonuses and features during the weekend.
The event introduces several gameplay enhancements. The remote raid limit has been increased to 30 raids per day, allowing players to participate in more raids remotely. However, most bonuses remain locked behind the Go Pass paywall.
New features have rolled out alongside the event. Mega Mewtwo now has Adventure Effects functionality, previously discovered in datamines. Mega Pokémon capable of reaching Super Max Level gain an additional charged attack upon Mega Evolution, marked by a plus sign next to the move. These changes expand strategic options for players building powerful Mega Evolved teams.
