Faker and T1 Qualify for LoL Worlds 2026

T1 and Faker have officially secured their places at the League of Legends World Championship 2026 following successful performances in the LCK Playoffs. T1, the reigning three-time World Champions, will compete alongside Gen.G, who sealed their qualification after a dominant 3-0 victory over KT Rolster.

The LCK results guarantee T1 a spot among Korea’s representatives at the tournament, currently confirmed as at least the region’s fourth seed. Gen.G’s victory not only secured their own participation but also mathematically ensured T1’s qualification, eliminating any remaining uncertainty for the defending champions.

So far, seven of the total twenty invited teams have locked in their spots for Worlds 2026, which will be held in North America this year. Hanwha Life Esports earned automatic qualification after winning the Mid-Season Invitational, with their MSI success nearly guaranteeing their tournament participation before their official confirmation.

T1’s dominance in recent years cannot be overstated. With three consecutive World Championship victories—a feat no other team has achieved—Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok and T1 have established themselves as League of Legends’ greatest dynasty. Their 2025 World Championship victory proved particularly valuable, as it earned them a special set of Riftbound cards that generated at least $10 million in revenue for Riot Games, demonstrating the commercial significance of esports excellence at the highest level.
