GTA 6 Studio On Massive Pressure: “We Are Nervous”
Rockstar North, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto 6, is grappling with significant internal pressure as it prepares for one of the most highly anticipated entertainment releases in history. Studio head Rob Nelson revealed that the team is “nervous” about the game’s launch, as they work to meet 13 years of accumulated expectations since GTA 5’s release.
Nelson emphasized that the studio’s internal pressure far exceeds any external expectations, noting that the team is committed to innovating while maintaining the familiar elements players expect. “We just have to try and make something that we feel is innovating on what we’ve done previously, evolving it while still making it feel familiar,” Nelson told IGN.
Despite the anxiety, Nelson also expressed excitement about seeing how the public will respond to the game. The pressure stems partly from GTA 6’s status as one of the most-awaited entertainment products ever, a position that brings both opportunity and risk for the studio. Industry experts widely expect the game to be a commercial success, but living up to over a decade of anticipation represents a significant challenge for Rockstar North.
