Mortal Shell 2 dramatically improved in almost every way by first major update

Mortal Shell 2 received its first major patch update just over a week after its release, with developer Cold Symmetry addressing widespread player criticism across multiple aspects of the game.

The update targets one of the game’s most criticized features: its restrictive in-game economy. Players complained that the game doled out currencies at an overly limited rate, which significantly restricted their ability to experiment with different Shells—the game’s premade character classes—and various weapons. By constraining resource availability, the economy system discouraged experimentation and player choice.

Cold Symmetry’s comprehensive patch adds new items to the economy, including Tarstones, which function similarly to rings in the game. These additions aim to improve currency flow and give players more freedom to try different playstyles and loadouts without worrying about resource scarcity.

Beyond the economy improvements, the patch addresses criticisms across nearly every system in the game, indicating a broad effort to refine the overall experience based on player feedback. The update is immediately available on Steam for PC players, with PlayStation and Xbox versions arriving soon. This rapid post-launch support demonstrates the developer’s commitment to improving the game in response to community concerns.
