Round Up: The Reviews For Orbitals On Switch 2 Are In

Orbitals, an anime-inspired co-op game developed by Shapefarm, launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 3, 2026, with reviews now available. The game has received mostly positive critical reception, earning an 81 on Metacritic and an 84 on Opencritic. Several outlets have awarded strong scores, including Game Rant and Nintendo Life, both giving the title 9/10.

The release marks Shapefarm’s debut title and positions itself as a competitor in the co-op gaming space, particularly against the high standards set by Hazelight’s acclaimed It Takes Two from five years ago. While Orbitals has managed to capture critical attention and praise, the aggregate scores suggest it falls slightly short of Hazelight’s subsequent release, Split Fiction, which achieved a 91 on Metacritic.

Despite not quite reaching the heights of industry-leading co-op experiences, Orbitals appears to have made a solid impression on reviewers and is expected to draw player attention to Shapefarm’s ambitious co-op design. The game represents one of the few notable attempts to replicate It Takes Two’s success in recent years.
