New Street Fighter Trailer Teases Conflict Between Ryu and Ken, and E. Honda Does His Hundred Hand Slap

A new trailer for the Street Fighter movie has been released ahead of its October 16 theatrical debut. The promo highlights the film’s central emotional storyline: the strained friendship between childhood training partners Ryu and Ken Masters.

In the trailer, Ryu (Andrew Koji) reluctantly joins the World Warriors Tournament after learning that his old friend Ken (Noah Centineo) has entered the competition. The tension between them is apparent, with Ken seemingly resentful of Ryu and determined to step out of his shadow. The film features multiple recognizable fighters from the video game series performing signature moves and techniques.

Notable moments include E. Honda executing his iconic moves such as the Sumo Headbutt and Hundred Hand Slap during a battle in his famous bathhouse stage. Other fighters featured include Chun-Li (Callina Liang) performing her Lightning Legs attack and Ryu delivering his Tatsumaki spin-kick. The trailer also shows Ken and Ryu performing their fist bump from Street Fighter 3, providing a nostalgic reference for longtime fans of the franchise.

The film’s plot involves M. Bison inviting the world’s greatest fighters to a tournament with mysterious and presumably sinister purposes. Produced by Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures, the movie appears to be leaning into the game’s source material with numerous homages while maintaining an entertaining, action-focused approach to the adaptation.
