Supercell’s acquisition of Merge Mansion maker Metacore to be finalised this month
Supercell is finalizing its acquisition of Metacore Games, the developer behind the hit mobile game Merge Mansion. The deal, initially announced earlier this year, is set to be completed by the end of September 2026. Financial terms have not been disclosed.
As part of the integration process, Metacore has already undergone significant restructuring. The company closed its offices in Germany and Sweden, consolidating operations and reducing its workforce by 159 employees at its Helsinki headquarters. This workforce reduction reflects Supercell’s integration planning for the acquisition.
Supercell President Sara Bach expressed optimism about the deal, highlighting Merge Mansion’s cultural impact and commercial potential. “Merge Mansion created a completely new genre and has all the ingredients of a game that can be played for years and remembered forever,” Bach stated. “We believe in what this game can become, and really look forward to welcoming the Merge Mansion team to Supercell and working together on the game’s next chapter.”
The acquisition represents a significant consolidation move in the mobile gaming industry, with Supercell strengthening its portfolio through the addition of Merge Mansion—a title that has built a substantial player base and demonstrated staying power in the competitive mobile gaming market. The finalized deal will position the game under Supercell’s stewardship as it moves into its next phase of development and support.
