VALORANT Patch 13.05 Targets Stream Snipers and Adds Champions Shanghai Pick’Ems

Riot Games has released VALORANT Patch 13.05, introducing targeted measures to combat unfair play practices in competitive matches. The update focuses on identifying and penalizing players using stream sniping exploits and instalock tools—automated software that allows players to instantly select agents faster than normal gameplay mechanics permit.

Stream snipers, who gain unfair advantages by watching opponent streams during live matches, will now face detection and punishment systems. Instalock tools have been a persistent competitive integrity issue, enabling certain players to guarantee agent selection regardless of pick order. The new penalty system aims to level the playing field for legitimate competitors.

Beyond anti-exploit measures, Patch 13.05 introduces Champions Shanghai Pick’Ems, a feature integrating the competitive esports scene into the game client. This addition allows players to engage with VALORANT’s professional tournament ecosystem.

Riot Games indicates that the current patch represents targeted quality-of-life improvements rather than major mechanical overhauls. The developer has already signaled that Patch 13.06 will be substantially larger, promising more significant changes in the next update. The 13.05 release reflects the studio’s continued emphasis on maintaining competitive integrity and fair play across VALORANT’s ranked ecosystem.
