Don’t Worry, The Witcher 3 Saves Will Work With The Game’s Remastered Upgrade — And There’s Word on Achievements/Trophies, Too
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that players can transfer their save files and achievement/trophy progress to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. The remaster will launch as a free upgrade on September 29th for all existing owners across major platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, with Switch owners also able to upgrade to a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
The developer has clarified that the remaster functions as an update to the existing game rather than a separate release, meaning players won’t need to start new game files. Previously earned achievements and trophies will automatically carry over with the upgrade. This announcement addresses widespread player concerns following the Gamescom 2026 announcement, where CD Projekt Red fielded numerous community questions about how progression would be handled.
The Remastered edition features a substantial graphical overhaul and other improvements to the over-a-decade-old RPG, which remains widely regarded as one of the best games in its genre.
