Ace Combat 8 reveals live service online multiplayer modes that include PvE, PvP, PvPvE battles, and a hangout space

Bandai Namco has announced Ace Combat Online, a live-service companion to Ace Combat 8 featuring multiple online multiplayer modes. The announcement comes in response to fan feedback requesting social spaces for players to meet up.

The modes include both cooperative and competitive experiences. For cooperative play, Co-Op Assault places two teams of four players against each other in a competitive rush to earn points by eliminating AI-controlled enemies and completing squad-based objectives. Additional PvE modes are planned beyond this initial description.

Competitive modes include traditional PvP battles, as well as hybrid PvPvE (player-versus-player-versus-environment) encounters that blend competitive and cooperative elements. Beyond combat, Ace Combat Online will feature a dedicated social hangout space where players can gather and interact with the community.

The live-service approach represents Bandai Namco’s strategy to extend post-launch engagement through regular online content and social features. This separates the multiplayer experience as a distinct offering from the main campaign, allowing players to choose between single-player story content and online multiplayer engagement. Specific details about seasonal content, progression systems, and launch timing were not disclosed in the initial announcement.
