Don’t call it an XPS: Dell unveils new 14-inch laptop to compete with MacBook Neo
Dell has announced the Dell 14S, a new 14-inch laptop designed to compete with Apple’s colorful MacBook Neo consumer line. Targeting college students and young adults, the device features an aluminum chassis available in multiple colors and promises budget-friendly pricing, though Dell has not yet released official pricing details. The laptop prioritizes connectivity with a solid port selection including two USB 3.2 Type-C ports, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack—addressing a key differentiator versus Apple’s thinner, port-sparse designs. The Dell 14S joins the Dell XPS 13, released earlier this year, as part of Dell’s push to capture market share in the premium consumer laptop segment. By emphasizing value, design variety, and practical I/O options, Dell is positioning the 14S as an accessible alternative to Apple’s popular color-focused MacBook Neo lineup.
