September’s first wave of Xbox Game Pass games revealed, and it brings RuneScape to console for the first time

The first batch of games arriving on Xbox Game Pass in September has been announced, with the most notable addition being RuneScape: Dragonwilds, marking the first console appearance for the RuneScape franchise.

Dragonwilds is a new co-op survival and crafting game set in the RuneScape universe, drawing inspiration from titles like Valheim and Enshrouded rather than being the classic MMO. Following an early access period that began in spring, the game will launch at full 1.0 release on September 15th on both PC and Xbox Game Pass platforms.

This represents a significant milestone for RuneScape, which has traditionally been exclusive to PC as an MMO. The expansion to console through this new survival game format demonstrates the franchise’s evolution and broader appeal beyond its traditional audience.

The September Game Pass lineup appears relatively modest otherwise, but Dragonwilds’ combination of RuneScape’s established brand recognition and the growing popularity of survival crafting games positions it as a strong addition to the subscription service.
