New Harry Potter Trailer Teases Snape, Quidditch, and the Sorting Hat
HBO is launching a prestige television remake of the Harry Potter franchise, with the first season adapting The Philosopher’s Stone across eight episodes. Set to premiere on Christmas 2026 on HBO and HBO Max, the series features an entirely new cast, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, Alastair Stout as Ron, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
A second teaser trailer released by HBO provides extensive new footage from the adaptation, showcasing iconic moments from the source material. The trailer features Harry’s arrival at Hogwarts, his selection into Gryffindor House via the Sorting Hat, the formation of his friendship with Hermione and Ron, and a Quidditch match sequence. The footage also reveals Ron’s acceptance letter and expands the portrayal of the Weasley family dynamic.
Additional elements confirmed in the trailer include the Cloak of Invisibility and the Mirror of Erised, along with a detailed look at Snape’s initial coldness toward Harry. This multi-season television approach represents a significant departure from the previous Warner Bros. film franchise, positioning HBO’s adaptation as a prestige reimagining of the wizarding world narrative for both longtime fans and new audiences.
