Overwatch Rush enters soft launch in the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia

Blizzard has launched Overwatch Rush into soft beta testing, marking a significant expansion for the Overwatch franchise into the mobile gaming market. The soft launch began on August 31, 2026, with availability in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia—three key Southeast Asian markets.

Overwatch Rush is a top-down shooter specifically designed for mobile devices, developed by a dedicated mobile team within Blizzard Entertainment. The project has been in development for years, with the company first announcing it in February 2026. Blizzard’s Director of User Acquisition, Danika Wilkinson, emphasized the significance of the milestone, stating: “We’re about to hit a huge milestone for Blizzard and the Overwatch franchise – Overwatch Rush is about to go into soft launch. Years of hard work have gone into this one, and we couldn’t be prouder of how it’s looking. Still lots more to come.”

The soft launch represents a critical testing phase for Blizzard, allowing the company to gather player feedback and data from real-world conditions before broader release. By focusing the initial launch on Southeast Asian markets, Blizzard is targeting regions with significant mobile gaming audiences and competitive player bases.

This move reflects the broader trend of major gaming publishers expanding into mobile platforms to reach new audiences and diversify revenue streams. Overwatch Rush brings the franchise’s fast-paced, team-based gameplay to handheld devices, with the mobile-specific design indicating Blizzard’s intention to craft an experience optimized for mobile players.
