When Will Legendaries Be Added to Pokémon Champions?
Pokémon Champions is set to add legendary Pokémon following the conclusion of its inaugural Video Game Championship, marking a significant expansion to competitive play. The upcoming Regulation Set M-C update will add 26 new Pokémon to the roster, bringing it to just over 220 species. The update introduces Z-Megas and new Mega Evolutions including Mega Salamence, Mega Golisopod, and Rillaboom.
Official promotional materials have confirmed that legendary Pokémon are finally joining the competitive meta. Producer Masaaki Hoshino previously teased this development in May, and the latest trailer has provided confirmation of specific legendary additions, including hints at Mega Heatran. However, Hoshino indicated that legendary Pokémon may not become a permanent fixture in Champions’ ruleset, suggesting The Pokémon Company may rotate their availability through different regulation sets rather than maintaining them as stable competitive options. This cautious approach reflects the challenge of balancing the game’s legendary creatures within competitive play without overwhelming the meta.
