Peak studio Aggro Crab establishes publishing label for “intense, stylised games with an attitude”
Aggro Crab, the independent studio behind the acclaimed titles Peak and Another Crab’s Treasure, has announced the establishment of a new publishing label dedicated to supporting small developers creating “intense, stylised games with an attitude.”
The publishing initiative will be operated directly by the Aggro Crab team and will focus on backing independent projects with budgets of up to $500,000 that can be completed within a two-year timeframe. The studio plans to sign approximately one or two games annually through the label.
Aggro Crab’s publishing approach emphasizes developer-friendly terms. The label offers flexible agreements with consistent base terms, adjustable milestones, and notably, does not require full recoupment of investment before providing payment to developers. Additionally, Aggro Crab will not withhold final payments contingent on a game’s release date, providing greater financial stability for partner teams.
Beyond funding, the publishing label provides comprehensive marketing support services. This includes assistance with trailer production, key art development, brand consultation, and promotional strategies to help games reach their intended audiences.
This move positions Aggro Crab as both a developer and publisher, leveraging its own experience in creating distinctive, stylized games to identify and support other small teams working in similar spaces. The initiative reflects a growing trend among successful indie developers to establish publishing infrastructure that prioritizes supporting the creative vision of other independent creators while maintaining terms that prioritize developer welfare over publisher recoupment timelines.
