Planet Coaster and Jurassic World developer Frontier partners with Disney for a new video game

Frontier Developments, the UK-based studio behind Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution, has announced a partnership with Disney to develop a new video game. The project will be funded, developed, and published by Frontier, leveraging the studio’s proven expertise in the creative management simulation (CMS) genre.

While specific details remain undisclosed—including the game’s title, target platforms, and release window—industry observers widely speculate the title will be a theme park or resort management simulator. This speculation is bolstered by both Disney’s extensive portfolio of theme parks worldwide and Frontier’s established track record in the genre, including the studio’s 2011 work on Kinect: Disneyland Adventures.

Frontier CEO Jo Cooke stated the collaboration “further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management” titles. The announcement comes during Disneyland’s 70th anniversary year, marked by Disney announcements regarding theme park expansions and new attractions.

This partnership represents a significant endorsement of Frontier’s capabilities from one of the world’s largest entertainment companies. The collaboration could produce a major new entry in the theme park management simulation genre—a category that has maintained player interest for decades, since the original RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise.
