The New Gundam Game Has A Collector’s Edition Just For Gunpla Sickos Like Me
Bandai Namco announced that Gundam Rogue Orbit will launch on March 5, 2027, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series platforms. The announcement came during September’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast, featuring extended gameplay footage and story details.
Rogue Orbit marks a departure from traditional Gundam releases, which typically debut as anime series before spawning collectible model kits. This title reverses that formula by launching as a video game first, though Bandai Namco is preserving the collectible element with a $160 collector’s edition that bundles the game with physical in-game collectibles.
The narrative-focused game follows elite pilot RE-X piloting the Gundam Helix, accompanied by Vii, a specialized AI Haro support unit. Together they confront an existential threat dubbed the Apocalypse. Revealed footage showcases customizable Mobile Suits, newly introduced characters, and a mysterious antagonistic black Mobile Suit with distinctive glowing red eyes. Early impressions suggest the game carries a notably higher production budget than initially expected, positioning it as a potential surprise franchise hit.
