A Lego replica of the original PlayStation will be available next month
Sony has officially unveiled a highly detailed LEGO replica of the original PlayStation console, announced at the company’s State of Play event. The collectible set, consisting of 1,911 pieces built to approximately 1:1 scale, will be available for purchase starting October 1st at a retail price of $160.
The LEGO set faithfully recreates the iconic original PlayStation design, complete with functional features including an openable disc tray and pressable buttons that mimic the original hardware. The build also includes a miniature LEGO PlayStation controller designed to accompany the console. A notable detail includes charming dioramas depicting classic PlayStation games Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, which can be removed and displayed independently.
The announcement comes after months of rumors about a potential LEGO PlayStation collaboration. For collectors, the $160 price point is considered reasonable for a LEGO set of this size and complexity. The detailed recreation appeals to longtime PlayStation fans and LEGO collectors alike, celebrating three decades of PlayStation gaming history with a nostalgic, buildable tribute to the console that defined a generation of gaming.
