METRO 2039 Is Coming To Xbox In February, But Could Get Lost In A Very Crowded Month

Metro 2039 is confirmed for a February 4, 2027 release on Xbox and PlayStation platforms. During PlayStation’s State of Play event, the post-apocalyptic first-person shooter debuted new gameplay footage, with the exact launch date now officially locked in.

Both platforms have confirmed optimized performance specifications. On Xbox Series X, the game will feature a 60FPS Performance Mode with ray tracing support, though technical specifications were not provided for Xbox Series S. PlayStation’s version similarly targets 60FPS in Performance Mode with ray tracing, demonstrated through PS5 Pro footage shown during the presentation.

The trailer showcased Metro 2039’s environmental storytelling and gunplay mechanics, including sequences set in an abandoned dentist’s office transitioning into intense combat. The game maintains the franchise’s signature approach of blending atmospheric exploration with first-person shooter action.

Industry observers note that February 2027 presents a particularly crowded release window for major titles. Metro 2039’s launch timing could potentially impact the game’s visibility in the marketplace, despite the franchise’s established recognition and the high-profile console performance optimization.
