Microsoft discloses Azure revenue as part of major financial reporting changes
Microsoft is restructuring how it reports financial information to investors, consolidating from three business segments to two. The new structure comprises “Agents and Infra” and “Devices and Consumer,” replacing the previous segments of Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and More Personal Computing.
The reorganization reflects Microsoft’s strategic pivot toward artificial intelligence and its centrality in the company’s future operations. Most notably, the company will now disclose quarterly Azure cloud revenue for the first time, providing investors with greater transparency into its cloud infrastructure business—a key competitive battleground and area of substantial AI investment.
The Xbox gaming division and Windows operating system have been consolidated into the new Devices and Consumer segment, reflecting Microsoft’s view of how these products fit within its evolving business landscape. By restructuring its reporting framework, Microsoft aims to help investors better understand how AI is reshaping the company’s operations and strategic priorities across its diverse business lines.
