Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance’s next gameplay trailer shows the Boost Bracer’s improvements to Bow, turning the weapon into an explosive shotgun
Capcom has released the second gameplay trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the upcoming DLC expansion to Monster Hunter Wilds. The trailer showcases the new Boost Bracer mechanic and its specific modifications to the Bow weapon.
According to the trailer, the Bow receives a new Boost Driver ability that significantly changes how the weapon functions. Players can now perform an Offset counterattack using the Boost Driver, which fires explosive arrows at enemies to knock them over while simultaneously propelling the player backwards for evasive positioning.
The explosive arrow variant represents a notable departure from the traditional Bow playstyle, which historically focuses on piercing enemies with arrows tipped with poisons or other elemental effects. With the addition of explosives through the DLC’s mechanics, the Bow is being repositioned as a more aggressive, area-of-effect weapon. The Boost Driver attack can be charged, suggesting that players will have options for varying the attack’s power and effects based on how long they charge it.
This is the second in a series of gameplay trailers showcasing how the Boost Bracer mechanic will impact each of Monster Hunter Wilds’ weapon types, indicating that all weapons will receive similar mechanical overhauls through the DLC expansion.
