Magic: The Gathering Isn’t Done With Final Fantasy Just Yet

Wizards of the Coast and Square Enix are extending their successful Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy crossover collaboration into 2027 with a newly announced promotional card. The original Final Fantasy crossover set, released over a year ago, became Magic’s most successful Universes Beyond collaboration to date, demonstrating strong commercial momentum between the two publishers.

The announcement accompanies Square Enix’s reveal of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the concluding chapter of its FF7 remake trilogy, unveiled during Sony’s State of Play event. The game launches April 8, 2027, across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. In a cross-promotional strategy, special day-one physical editions available through participating retailers will include a new Magic promo card, merging both franchises’ audiences and leveraging their combined commercial appeal.

The collaboration exemplifies how major publishers increasingly use crossover content and merchandise tie-ins to drive engagement across multiple gaming communities. With the FF7 remake trilogy nearing completion and continued promotional support, both properties are positioned for significant commercial activity through 2027.
