Everything announced at Sony’s State of Play September 2026

Sony hosted a rare dual State of Play showcase on September 3, 2026, with back-to-back general and Japan-focused presentations delivering a significant lineup of PlayStation 5 announcements for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.

The event featured several major title reveals and release date confirmations. Final Fantasy VII Revelation culminated the trilogy with an April 2027 release date, arriving as the showcase’s closing spotlight feature. Until Dawn 2 was confirmed for January 2027, arriving earlier than anticipated. Metro 2039 received a new trailer targeting February 2027 on PS5 and Xbox. Maneater 2 was announced as a surprise reveal, while Konami’s new jazz-themed title Rhapsody in Scarlet and Crimson Desert DLC were also showcased.

Additional announcements included Final Fantasy Resonance, an HD-2D game based on the mobile title Brave Exvius, which released a playable demo immediately following the showcase, with the full game launching October 22. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance received new trailers. The event also debuted limited-edition DualSense controllers inspired by GTA 6.

The Resident Evil movie received extended footage, with the film arriving in cinemas September 18, 2026. Marvel’s Wolverine was given a final pre-release look.

PlayStation Plus subscribers gained access to expanded catalogs. Mycopunk, a customizable looter-shooter from Devolver Digital, launches day-one on PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra in October 2026. Classic titles including Mega Man X Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2, and the original Ratchet & Clank were announced for Premium.

Notable absences disappointed viewers: Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Laufey (February 2027) and Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet received no new footage or updates. Many announced titles confirmed cross-platform availability on Xbox and PC.
