Until Dawn 2’s sun-kissed horror gets a PS5 release date - and the studio behind last year’s brilliant Dispatch is involved

Sony officially announced the PlayStation 5 release date for Until Dawn 2 during its latest State of Play showcase: January 28, 2027. The sequel to the 2015 cult horror title will arrive sooner than many anticipated, with pre-orders beginning September 10, 2026.

The game relocates from the snowy alpine resort of its predecessor to sun-kissed tropical settings. The story follows the Dead True, a successful TV ghosthunting crew embarking on what appears to be a routine investigation at Blackwood Sanitorium—until circumstances take an unexpected and chilling turn.

Developer Firesprite has partnered with AdHoc Studio, the team behind last year’s acclaimed Dispatch, to craft the sequel’s branching narrative. The collaboration aims to deliver “a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, and tough decisions.” The game maintains the franchise’s signature choice-based mechanics, where player decisions carry dramatic consequences that can radically alter characters’ fates.

Until Dawn 2 will be available in standard and Digital Deluxe editions. Pre-order bonuses include an “Until Dawn classic” outfit, Akishima Island holiday outfit, and collectible Dr. Hill bobbleheads to discover throughout the game. The deluxe edition adds the “Y2K Neon Vibes Pack and Dioramas of Death” feature.
