DLSS 5 Will Be Coming to Older Graphics Cards After All
Nvidia’s DLSS 5 neural rendering technology officially launched on September 3, debuting exclusively in NBA 2K27 with support limited to the current-generation RTX 5000 series graphics cards. However, the company has confirmed that broader hardware support is coming.
An Nvidia employee confirmed on the company’s official forums that support for older RTX 40 series graphics cards is in development, though it will not arrive in the immediate future. Nvidia’s current priorities center on optimizing DLSS 5 performance specifically for the RTX 50 series, with model updates expected to roll out throughout the fall.
The company has indicated that once RTX 50 series performance optimization is complete, DLSS 5 support will be extended to RTX 40 series users. No specific timeline has been provided for when this expansion will occur, suggesting a wait of several months or longer for RTX 40 series owners to access the technology.
