PAX Unplugged Houston to debut in June 2027: “It’s a chance to bring PAX back to the PAX South fans that missed us”

ReedPop and Penny Arcade have announced PAX Unplugged Houston, the inaugural tabletop gaming convention for the region, scheduled for June 25–27, 2027, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. This marks the second PAX Unplugged event, following the first held in Pennsylvania in 2017.

According to PAX event manager Sean Gonzalez, the tabletop gaming industry continues to grow, with tabletop gaming thriving within the PAX community. The decision to establish an Unplugged event in Houston was driven by exhibitor demand to place a tabletop PAX in the southern U.S., returning the convention to Texas for the first time in approximately six years following the conclusion of PAX South.

The convention will feature an expo floor showcasing tabletop gaming exhibitors, alongside panels, tournaments, and community meetups. The event represents an opportunity to reconnect with PAX fans in the region who have missed the brand’s presence. Penny Arcade, founded by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik in 1998 as a webcomic, has evolved into a major gaming industry presence since launching the original Penny Arcade Expo in 2004 with just 1,300 attendees.
