New Resident Evil Teaser Trailer Reveals First Glimpse at Creature That Looks a Lot Like Las Plagas
A Spanish-language teaser trailer for director Zach Cregger’s upcoming Resident Evil film, released on September 4, 2026, provides the first look at a creature bearing striking resemblance to Las Plagas from Resident Evil 4.
The footage follows protagonist Bryan Hodukavich (played by Austin Abrams) as he cautiously explores a hospital maternity ward that has been overtaken by a fleshy, biomechanical substance. The horror escalates as the camera reveals this mutation has consumed the bassinets intended for newborn infants.
One particularly disturbing sequence shows a corpse’s feet being consumed by thin, wormlike vines. The deceased body then reanimates moments later, seemingly puppeted by one of these parasitic vines protruding from its cheek, while Hodukavich watches in horror.
The creature design directly evokes the iconic Las Plagas parasites from Resident Evil 4, drawing visual inspiration from the tentacle-like mutations that defined that game’s horror aesthetic. This marks the film’s first explicit visual reference to specific enemy designs from the game franchise.
Cregger’s Resident Evil adaptation maintains the biological horror elements central to the franchise while translating them to the big screen. The maternity ward setting hints at a particularly unsettling thematic direction for the film.
