Percy Jackson Author Is Getting Another Disney Plus Fantasy Series

Rick Riordan’s literary universe is expanding on Disney Plus with a new adaptation in development. The streamer is currently developing a television series based on The Kane Chronicles, Riordan’s Egyptian mythology series, though the project has not yet received an official order. The development follows the success of Disney Plus’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians adaptation, which Riordan co-wrote and which will premiere its third season on November 20, 2026, adapting The Titan’s Curse.

The Kane Chronicles project has secured experienced creative leadership through Angela Robinson, an accomplished writer and director known for her work on True Blood and The L Word. Robinson will serve as executive producer and writer alongside Riordan, who will again have a co-writing role in the adaptation.

While Percy Jackson and the Olympians draws from Greek mythology, The Kane Chronicles shifts focus to Egyptian mythology, following siblings Carter and Sadie Kane. The pair are magicians descended from the ancient pharaohs Narmer and Ramses the Great, and navigate their interaction with Egyptian gods within the series’ narrative.

This development underscores Disney Plus’s commitment to adapting Riordan’s work and leveraging the author’s established fanbase. The involvement of Robinson, whose television credits demonstrate expertise in character-driven drama, suggests the studio’s intention to maintain the quality and narrative depth established by the Percy Jackson adaptation.
