Former PlayStation indie boss Shuhei Yoshida and the founder of TIGSource are throwing a Game Poem jam that “challenges traditional boundaries between art forms”

A game jam organized by the UK’s National Film & Television School is celebrating the “videogame poem,” an emerging creative format focused on short-form personal expression. The event, running September 7-8, will be judged by Shuhei Yoshida, former head of PlayStation Indies, and Jordan Magnuson, founder of the influential gaming publication TIGSource.

According to organizers on the event’s Itch.io page, videogame poems represent “emergent short-form personal expression that challenges traditional boundaries between art forms.” The jam encourages developers and artists to explore the medium as a way to push the creative possibilities of games beyond conventional boundaries.

The event reflects a growing interest in experimental and artistic game development within the industry. By bringing together judges with extensive experience in both independent gaming and games criticism, the jam positions itself as a significant initiative for emerging creators exploring the intersection of games and other artistic mediums.
