Maneater Sequel Now In Development For Switch 2, Surfacing 2027
During PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast this week, developers Tripwire Interactive and Demiurge Studios announced that Maneater 2 is in active development for the Nintendo Switch 2. Described as an “open-water action-RPG,” the sequel is scheduled to launch in 2027.
The announcement marks a continuation of the Maneater franchise, which originally debuted on Nintendo Switch in 2020. The original title established a unique gameplay experience centered around playing as an apex predator in an open-water environment, offering players an unconventional perspective on open-world game design.
While specific details about the sequel remain limited in this announcement, Tripwire Interactive and Demiurge Studios are building the game specifically for Nintendo’s latest console hardware. The 2027 release window positions Maneater 2 as a mid-cycle title for the Switch 2, arriving several years after the platform’s launch.
The reveal during PlayStation’s State of Play highlights third-party developer support for Nintendo’s new hardware, demonstrating how major studios continue to bring sequels and new experiences to Nintendo’s platforms alongside other console ecosystems.
