How to Watch the September 2026 Nintendo Direct and Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct
Nintendo is preparing for a significant announcement period in September 2026 with two Nintendo Direct presentations scheduled for back-to-back days. The most notable event is The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, set for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, a 30-minute stream dedicated entirely to celebrating four decades of the iconic franchise.
The Zelda-focused Direct promises to “deliver a variety of The Legend of Zelda related information,” though Nintendo has been deliberately vague about specific announcements. This represents an opportunity for major reveals, given Nintendo’s track record with anniversary celebrations. The 2020 Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct, for comparison, unveiled multiple significant titles including Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.
These upcoming presentations mark the first major Nintendo Directs since June 2026, when the company showcased The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. The back-to-back scheduling of the September events suggests Nintendo is planning substantial news across multiple franchises and platforms.
