Rumour: Killzone Project in Early Development, Probably a Remake

Guerrilla Games is reportedly collaborating with developer People Can Fly on a new Killzone project currently in very early development stages. According to sources speaking to MP1st, the project is most likely a remake of an earlier entry in the long-running shooter franchise.

People Can Fly, known for developing titles like Bulletstorm and Outriders, has already been confirmed to be working on a PlayStation 5 game based on a Sony intellectual property. This new Killzone remake aligns with that earlier announcement, suggesting it may be the project the studio has been working on.

The Killzone franchise has remained dormant for several years, with the last mainline entry being Killzone Shadow Fall on PlayStation 4 in 2013. A remake would potentially bring the classic sci-fi first-person shooter to modern audiences and current-generation hardware.

While details remain sparse given the project’s early stage, the pairing of Guerrilla Games with People Can Fly represents a collaboration between Sony’s first-party studio and an accomplished external developer. The involvement of People Can Fly’s track record with action-oriented shooters suggests the remake could maintain the franchise’s identity while modernizing its gameplay and visuals.

As with all projects in early development, significant changes could occur before any official announcement or release. Sony and Guerrilla Games have not publicly confirmed these details.
