GSC Game World says there’s a reason it didn’t give Stalker 2 more time in the oven: ‘To make something better, you need to receive feedback, and this feedback should be fresh’
GSC Game World CEO Ievgen Grygorovych has explained the studio’s decision to release Stalker 2 rather than delay it further, emphasizing the importance of gathering fresh player feedback for ongoing development. Speaking at Gamescom 2026, Grygorovych acknowledged that while developers would ideally have unlimited time for refinement, market conditions and the necessity for real-world player input drove the release decision.
The executive framed the release as a pragmatic choice, noting that “every developer would like to have an infinite amount of time, but the market state is not very promising.” He argued that receiving feedback from the actual player base is essential for meaningful improvements, stating: “To make something better, you need to receive feedback, and this feedback should be fresh.”
This approach reflects a development philosophy that values iterative improvement informed by genuine player experience over extended pre-release refinement in isolation. The statement suggests GSC Game World views Stalker 2’s launch as the beginning of broader engagement with players, positioning the release as an opportunity to gather the feedback necessary to shape the game’s future development and direction.
