The original novel is a queer urban fantasy following Yadriel, a young brujo attempting to prove himself by freeing his murdered cousin’s ghost. He accidentally summons Julian instead, and the two boys form a complicated bond while investigating Julian’s death. The sequel takes place shortly after the original’s conclusion and shifts narrative focus to Julian’s perspective.
