Game of the Month: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 (August 2026)
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 has been voted Game of the Month for August 2026 by readers of Push Square.
August 2026 proved notable for featuring one of the tightest voting competitions in recent months. The competitive nature of the vote reflected the month’s release landscape: there was no standout AAA heavy hitter—no massive new release positioned to dominate player attention and voting patterns. This absence of a clear frontrunner created a more balanced competition among August’s releases.
The Master Collection’s victory demonstrates player appreciation for remastered collections of classic franchises, particularly when competing against a field without a major blockbuster release. The Metal Gear Solid series, known for its influential stealth-action gameplay and narrative-driven approach, maintained strong appeal through the compilation format.
The tightness of the August voting contrasts with months that feature major AAA releases, which typically command overwhelming voting majorities. Push Square’s monthly Game of the Month awards are determined through community voting, reflecting player preferences across the industry’s monthly releases.
