The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct: Start Time, How To Watch, And What To Expect

The Legend of Zelda franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, and Nintendo is marking the occasion with a special presentation. Nintendo is hosting a 40th Anniversary Direct dedicated to the iconic series on Tuesday, September 8. The 30-minute broadcast will showcase news and updates across the franchise, available for viewing on YouTube and Twitch, with individual trailers and footage later uploaded to Nintendo’s official channels.

The Direct is expected to feature several significant announcements. Most notably, attendees should expect an update on the previously announced Ocarina of Time remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, with some speculation suggesting a potential November launch alongside GTA 6. Beyond gaming, Nintendo has teased that non-game-related initiatives will be featured—widely anticipated to include news about the Zelda movie in development.

This anniversary celebration comes as part of a broader week of Nintendo announcements, with another Nintendo Direct scheduled for September 9. The Zelda franchise has remained a cornerstone of Nintendo’s portfolio for four decades, and the company appears committed to expanding the series across multiple media formats and platforms as it enters its next chapter.
