Riot Teases K/DA Return and Expands LoL Voice Chat
Riot Games announced a music-themed Season 3, Act 2 for League of Legends, featuring the highly anticipated return of K/DA alongside the new HEARTSTEEL music collaboration. The company will launch its first music reveal on September 9, continuing its strategy of blending competitive gaming with musical content.
In addition to the thematic updates, Riot is making significant quality-of-life improvements to the game. Most notably, the developer is expanding voice chat functionality to enable full-team communication with random teammates, moving beyond the previous limitation that restricted voice chat to party members. The new system will include enhanced features such as noise cancellation, faster connection speeds, and improved stability to ensure smoother communication during matches.
To access the expanded voice chat, players must maintain an Honor Level 3 or higher—a requirement designed to encourage positive in-game behavior and maintain community standards. Alongside the voice chat expansion, Riot is rolling out additional updates to ARAM Mayhem and Ranked 5s gameplay modes, diversifying the content available to players.
These announcements represent Riot’s ongoing commitment to evolving League of Legends as a dynamic live-service title that balances competitive integrity with entertainment value through music partnerships and enhances social connectivity via improved communication tools.
