South Park Trolls Trump, Google, and Apple With Official Season 29 Name Change
Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced that South Park will officially be renamed South America for Season 29, launching September 16 on Comedy Central and September 17 on Paramount+. The announcement reads: “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”
The name change is a satirical critique of President Donald Trump’s ongoing efforts to rename various geographical locations and territories in his image. The creators simultaneously mock tech giants Apple and Google for appearing to comply with or support Trump’s agenda, and their own parent company Paramount for acquiescing to political pressures.
This rebrand aligns with South Park’s long-standing tradition of sharp political and social satire since its 1997 debut. While the permanence of the “South America” name remains uncertain, the stunt effectively underscores the creators’ commentary on corporate complicity and political opportunism in response to the current administration.
