Love & Pies maker Trailmix has a new CEO
Trailmix, the studio behind Love & Pies, has undergone a leadership transition with James Nicholas promoted from Chief Operating Officer to Chief Executive Officer. Founder Carolin Krenzer, who has led the studio for nearly a decade, is transitioning to the role of executive chair while remaining involved in the company’s direction.
Nicholas joined Trailmix as COO in 2023 and has been running day-to-day operations for the past eight months. The appointment capitalizes on an established professional relationship—Nicholas and Krenzer previously worked together at King and have known each other for thirteen years.
In a Medium post announcing the transition, Krenzer reflected on her tenure, calling Trailmix “the biggest part of my life for the best part of a decade.” She expressed confidence in Nicholas, writing that she was “grateful beyond measure” to pass leadership to someone she trusts completely. Moving into an executive chair position allows her to continue serving the studio in a different capacity.
Nicholas acknowledged the foundation built by Krenzer and the founding team, crediting them for his ability to step into the CEO role.
