Wi-Fi 8 is upon us, so here are two routers we saw at Computex that should be hitting the shops soon

Wi-Fi 8 routers are beginning to arrive from major manufacturers. TP-Link announced two new models at IFA 2026—the Archer 9 Ultra and Deco 8 Ultra—with availability expected later in 2026, though pricing and exact release dates remain unconfirmed. TP-Link positioned these as the first Wi-Fi 8 routers to be publicly revealed, though Asus had demonstrated its Wi-Fi 8 offerings earlier at Computex in June.

Asus is taking a multi-tiered approach to the Wi-Fi 8 market. The company showcased the ROG Rapture GT-BN98, a premium gaming-focused router loaded with gaming optimizations and Asus’s signature aggressive ROG styling. Additionally, Asus revealed the ZenWiFi BN12, a more mainstream option positioned for general consumers rather than enthusiasts. Both routers are expected to reach retailers in the coming months.

The rollout of Wi-Fi 8 represents the next generation of wireless networking technology, with multiple manufacturers preparing competing products for a market increasingly focused on high-performance home networking. The gaming-oriented positioning of several models reflects the growing demand for specialized networking hardware among PC and console gamers.
