Our absolute favourite gaming keyboard, the Wooting 80HE, is getting a BIG KNOB, improved switches, and more
Wooting has announced the 80HE+, an upgraded version of its popular gaming keyboard, with pre-orders opening on September 17. The new model features several improvements over the original 80HE, including the addition of a volume knob and enhanced switches.
The Wooting 80HE has maintained a strong reputation in the gaming keyboard market, praised for its build quality, compact size, Hall effect switches with adjustable actuation and rapid trigger functionality, and highly customizable software. The keyboard has offered competitive pricing relative to its feature set.
The 80HE+ introduces both visible and internal upgrades to the existing formula. In addition to the prominent volume knob addition, the update includes improved switch technology, though specific details about the switch enhancements were not fully detailed in the announcement. The article suggests these internal improvements may be more significant than the cosmetic additions.
The Hall effect switch technology remains a key feature, allowing users to adjust actuation points and enable rapid trigger capabilities—features particularly valued by competitive gamers. With these upgrades, Wooting aims to maintain the 80HE’s position as a leading option in the gaming keyboard segment while addressing potential areas for improvement identified since the original model’s release.
