Attack on Titan Is Coming to 4DX Theaters, but There’s a Catch

Attack on Titan is heading to 4DX and ScreenX theaters in Japan this fall, celebrating the anime’s cultural significance on September 9, which has been officially recognized as Attack on Titan Day in Japan. Two compiled movies will be released: one featuring the first half of the iconic anime’s first season and another covering the series finale.

The screenings utilize immersive cinema formats designed to enhance the viewing experience. 4DX is a premium screening technology that incorporates dynamic physical effects such as motion, wind, rain, and vibrations synchronized with on-screen action. ScreenX expands the visual experience across wider screens, while Ultra 4DX combines both technologies for maximum immersion—creating an unusually intense way to experience the anime’s intense action sequences.

However, this theatrical release is limited to Japan only, meaning international fans will not have access to these special screenings. Attack on Titan’s anime adaptation, created by Hajime Isayama, is a groundbreaking series that concluded after multiple seasons and achieved significant cultural impact globally. The decision to release compiled films in premium theatrical formats highlights the franchise’s enduring popularity and demonstrates the anime industry’s growing efforts to bring theatrical experiences to dedicated fans.
