The Duskbloods Was A No-Show At The September Nintendo Direct And Now I’m Worried
From Software’s The Duskbloods, a highly anticipated Switch 2 exclusive, was notably absent from Nintendo’s September 2026 Direct presentation, raising concerns about its 2026 release timeline.
The game had been expected to receive significant coverage during the 45-minute presentation, including a potential release date announcement and new gameplay footage from maps and characters not shown in its recent closed network test. However, The Duskbloods failed to make an appearance at the event.
The absence is particularly noteworthy given the shrinking window for a 2026 launch. With less than four months remaining in the year, the game has limited time for marketing and release window establishment. Industry observers had anticipated Nintendo would use the Direct to bolster Switch 2’s exclusive lineup and provide concrete release information for one of the console’s most significant titles.
The Duskbloods was not the only anticipated game to miss the presentation. A next-generation 3D Mario title also failed to appear, disappointing fans hoping for announcements about Nintendo’s flagship franchise.
The Direct did feature other significant announcements, including Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D side-scrolling sequel to Metroid Dread; Kirby and the World Beyond, which brings the series into full 3D with a Spring 2027 launch window; and updates to Mario Kart World.
