EA FC 27 Platinum Trophy Incentivizes Microtransactions & Ultimate Editions

EA FC 27 is set to release on September 18 in early access, followed by a full release the following week. The game continues the franchise’s tradition of optional microtransactions, but players seeking to unlock every Achievement or Trophy may face a significant financial decision.

According to recently revealed completion lists, one Trophy titled “All Aboard the Premium Track” specifically requires players to fully complete and unlock content tied to the game’s Premium Pass system. This means that earning the Platinum Trophy—the complete 100% trophy set on PlayStation—would necessitate purchasing additional content beyond the base game.

This approach has become increasingly common in live-service and sports games, where optional cosmetics and progression passes extend monetisation throughout the game’s lifecycle. For completionists and trophy hunters, this creates a choice between accepting an incomplete trophy list or committing to additional spending. EA Sports has faced ongoing scrutiny regarding its monetisation practices across its annual sports releases, particularly with Ultimate Team modes and seasonal premium content.
